I played a game against a fun and challenging player yesterday who has some of the coolest conversions and counts as models for warhammer fantasy. I snapped some pictures as we played but unfortunately got wrapped up in the game toward the end so there are some pictures lacking after about turn 4. It was a bloody battle and despite the vampire general going down early to a rampaging hell pit abomination, the undead clung to "life" for the entire game.
The view from the skaven side after turn one, looking down the vampire lord in the grave guard unit (The gifts with arms) and the crypt horrors (ice ball daemons).
The view from the undead side looking on at the plague monks and plague furnace, hell pit abomination, and 2 units of 40+ clanrats.
By the end of turn two the two hammer units had met in the middle, and the ambushing gutter runners came on the back to threaten the main necromancers unit.
Turn three saw the vampire general and his unit of grave guard, along with a wight king bsb and tomb prince get destroyed by a rampaging hell pit abom. In return they destroyed the plague furnace, severely weakening the plague monk unit. The skaven general, sensing a quick victory advances on the left, while the tar pit rat swarms occupy the black knights.
By the end of turn 4 the crypt horrors had routed the last of the plague monks, and the replacement general, the necromancer, was doing their best to keep the undead in the fight.
The hell pit fell short of an easy over-run, and instead choose to linger ominously over the flank of the black knights.
Turn 5 a unit of skeleton warriors, seen center to the left of the hell pit, was able to flank charge (barely) the skaven generals unit, and break them in combat, causing them to flee and subsequently be run down by the skeletons.
In the end there wasn't much standing on either side of the board. The undead legion had some crypt horrors remaining, along with the casket of souls, and the skaven had a unit of clan rats, the grey seer, bsb, and HPA. The hell pit abomination was a decisive part of the skaven army, destroying unit after unit, and wracking up a deadly tally of 4 characters by the end of the game.
